Irrational parking anger

I understand parking is first come, first served and every person has the right to park in any open spot. But it still irks me to no end when I see a piece of junk parked in a great space in the parking garage. Of course, a great space doesn’t mean close to the door but instead is one between two pillars or an end spot to minimize door dings from my coworkers and others in the building who don’t care about their cars (or anyone else’s for that matter). Why do they park in these spots??? [Yugo convertible only used as example of offending vehicles]

There’s a difference, though, between a nice clean car (even if “cheap”) and a car or truck that already is beat to the point that you couldn’t spot a new door ding if someone spray painted an arrow pointing to it.

Plus I said my anger was irrational! :)

I occasionally see an Aston or G Wagen parked in my parking garage in spaces that I wouldn't park my sixteen year old Town Car in. I think that just means that my priorities are better.

Just be thankful they’re in a spot, and not trying to ocupy 2 or 4 spots, or parking where there is no marked spot, or double parking other cars.

We get a lot of stupid parking jobs out here where there’s no parking enforcement.

Parking garages in general provoke irrational anger in me. Too small spots, poor sight lines, people driving to fast/irrationally, people in multiple spots, gates that don't work, machines that eat credit cards, etc. etc.

I have seriously thought about buying one but I’ve looked at two and both were in such bad shape that I didn’t think they would drive a mile.

Could it be that rather quirky person takes great pride in their somewhat rare Yugo and really doesn’t appreciate door dings any more than you do? My MJ is pretty rough around the edges, rust in the usual places, etc, and I’m well aware to the uneducated masses it looks just like an old beat up truck. But I don’t need anyone slamming their doors into it, either, or knocking a mirror off, or anything like that. I’ve already had to replace the passenger side mirror a couple times because people keep folding it over and stretching the adjuster cables or breaking the mount, and original mirrors in good working shape with the right aging to match the rest of the truck are getting harder to find. I’m also fucking pissed because I noticed the other day my Niva’s pasenger door has a gigantic crease down the middle of the door with paint chipped off in a couple spots. For someone with a newer car, or even a classic with pristine paint, it sucks but you slap some filler in the gap, some new paint on, and it’s good as new. Do that to my $1000 Lada and it looks like shit cause it doesn’t match the car, so now I either have to live with the crease and paint chips or else repaint the entire freaking car and leave it in the sun for 20 fucking years, cause you really can’t replicate the patina to have it looking the way I want, which is the way it looks now.

Just cause you decided it looks like a piece of crap doesn’t mean the person doesn’t care about it. Unless you’ve got a little sign with “reserved” and your name on it in that specific spot, you’re not any more entitled to it than any other person out there.

People who don’t park in these places don’t understand/car why others would. It’s ignorance is all. But it’s understandable.
